From Our Vendors

As owner of a trucking company and having the pleasure of working with the Bray team on numerous job sites, I will say that every time is a great experience.  I have watched them perform sewer and water construction, build bridges, align culverts and repair sinkholes.  Their work is always performed as a team and it is great to work with the supervisors and staff.  My most memorable project was the repair of the sinkhole in Ottawa in 2012.  The Bray team worked diligently throughout the day and night in order to restore the road for traffic to flow again.  To witness the planning, organization and team work involved in this huge undertaking certainly matches the company logo “integrity, honesty, respect, quality and collaboration.

Stantec-City of Ottawa Rideau Canal Project

“Our experience in working with Louis W. Bray Construction on the Rideau Canal Regulator Upgrades project was very positive. The Bray team remained committed to working collaboratively with the City of Ottawa and Stantec in what proved to be unusual, difficult and constrained construction conditions. Throughout the process, we felt that we could rely on Louis W. Bray to coordinate and deliver a successful project.”

Adrien Comeau, M.Eng., P.Eng., Principal, Water Wet Weather Flow Team Leader Stantec

City of Ottawa

“Louis W. Bray Construction Limited was the contractor working on lining a major 3.6m culvert across Highway 174 in Ottawa. Unexpectedly at the start of the project, the culvert collapsed causing a major traffic disruption for the east end commuters since the east bound lanes of the highway had to be closed. Through their hard work and dedication to the project, the culvert was replaced and the highway paved and re-opened within 2 weeks.

Throughout the 2 week operation, working 24 hours a day to replace the culvert and reopen the highway, Louis W. Bray Construction Limited and their team always acted professionally and were proactive in solving future issues to ensure that there was no schedule impact. We look forward to working with them in the future.”

WSP -Various Projects

“As consulting engineers, WSP works with a variety of different construction contractors throughout each construction season.  In past years, WSP has had the opportunity to work with Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. on various multi-disciplined projects.

Whether the project is a municipal infrastructure project or commercial development, Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. has proven to be a proficient general contractor, exhibiting a commitment to workmanship and schedule.

In an industry where contracts are awarded based on competitive bidding, WSP has noticed an increasing trend among some contractors to pursue additional funds extra to the original tendered contract amount by submitting unwarranted requests for extra payment and through unreasonable change order pricing.  Louis W. Bray has demonstrated in any contract negotiations or change order to price works in a fair and reasonable manner.

I am pleased to offer this letter of reference to a highly regarded general contractor such as Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. WSP looks forward to working with this organization for many years to come.”

Ian McLeod, P.Eng. Senior Municipal Engineer, Cornwall and Kingston, WSP

Remisz Consulting Engineers Ltd.

“Over the period of so many years, I have witnessed the work of Louis W. Bray Construction Limited. on projects that covered culvert replacements, large diameter culvert re-lining, small, medium and longer-span bridge rehabilitation or new construction, wharfs and marinas, installation of caisson footings, construction of pedestrian bridges, various shorings and retaining walls, and also on a high-profile and very difficult project underpinning and stabilizing a high commission building in Ottawa.

Under these circumstance, I have worked with many project managers and field staff, who have demonstrated their very good and reliable performance, and solved many constructability problems that directly benefited the project owners.

The company personnel – field or office – have always promoted good and safe working environments, offered practical solutions, provided a competent labour force and kept track of accurate and relevant correspondence.

It is hence my assessment that Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. is a very reliable and reputable company, capable of undertaking a multi-million dollar project, and delivering it on time and within the agreed to budget, while observing the contract conditions with honesty and integrity.”

Wojciech Remisz, M.Sc., P.Eng. FCSCE President, Remisz Consulting Engineers Ltd.

McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineers

“When looking at a large-scale pump station and forcemain project with multiple partners and challenging site features, McIntosh Perry teamed up with Louis W. Bray to present a design-build solution to our client. Working with BRAY staff was a pleasure.

Thoughtful suggestions, practical solutions to design challenges and willingness to share openly made the design portion of the project a true partnership. We were jointly able to deliver a multi-million-dollar solution to our client within the budget and timelines agreed to.

The BRAY team reduced our risk, increased our confidence and left us looking for the next project to work on together.”

“From my first day here at Louis W. Bray Construction, I’ve felt like part of the family. The staff at LWB was remarkably unique as they were able to make me feel like part of the team and gave me opportunities to grow my knowledge & experience. As a Junior Project Coordinator, I was taught the entire process of construction from the tendering process straight through until project completion and handover. This gave me a unique experience and better knowledge compared to other placements. The time spent at LWB has shown me how a successful company operates, and I look forward to future opportunities with LWB.”
